Email Setup Guide - Outlook 2000 for the PC - IMAP

This guide is intended for users running Microsoft Outlook 2000 in Internet Mode only. It is not possible to setup IMAP on a Corporate version of Outlook 2000. Please refer to steps 1 and 2 for further details.

To begin open Outlook 2000

1)Click the 'Tools' menu.
2)Select 'Accounts'. (Note: If you see 'Services' instead of accounts Outlook 2000 is running in corporate mode. You cannot setup IMAP in this mode and will need to refer to the Outlook 2000 POP3 Corporate Guide).

3)Select the 'Mail' tab.
4)In the middle of the screen you will see a list of accounts that have already been setup in Outlook 2000.
5)Click the [Add] button.
6)Select 'Mail' from the menu

7)Enter your name.
8)Click [Next] to continue

9)Enter your email address. If your unsure of your email address please contact Imageway (see the Imageway contact page for deatils).
10)Click [Next] to continue.

11)Click the drop down list.
12) Select 'IMAP' from the list.

You should end up with

13)Enter 'mail.imageway.com' as the incoming mail server name.
14)Enter 'smtp.imageway.com' as the outgoing mail server name.
15)Click [Next] to continue.

16)By default Outlook 2000 will enter part of your email address as the username. Delete this information and enter your 'email address' (for example: me@mydomain.com).
17)Enter your password. The 'Remember password' tick box is optional.
NOTE: usernames and passwords are cAse SensITiVe.

18)Click [Next] to continue.

19)Select 'Connect using my local area network (LAN)' option. It is advisable to choose this option even if you connect to the Internet using a dialup connection.
20)Click [Next] to continue.

21)Click the [Finish] button.

22)Select the 'Mail' tab.
23)Select your 'mail.imageway.com' mail account.
24)Click the 'Properties' button.

25)Select the 'Servers' tab.
26)Tick the check box next to 'My server requires authenication'.
27)Click the [Settings] button. (Another dialog box will appear as shown above).
28)Ensure there is a dot next to 'Use the same settings as my incoming mail server' (this should be selected by default).
29)Click the [OK] button.

30)The mail account that you have created will be displayed as 'mail.imageway.com'
31)Click [Close] to continue.

32) By default Outlook 2000 will place an icon in the Outlook Shortcuts. This will only display your inbox & will not show any other folders on the mail server. To display ALL your mail folders you will need to turn on the 'Folder List' view. 33)Select 'View' from the tools menu.
34) Select 'Folders List'.
