Email Setup Guide - Eudora 5.2.1 for the PC - IMAP

This guide is for Eudora 5.2.1 only and assumes you have just installed the application. If you have previously used Eudora, or are currently using it for another email account you will not see the 'New Account Wizard' when you open the application. To launch the Account Wizard: click the 'Tools' menu > select 'Personalities' > right-click the personalities window > and select 'New' from the drop-down list. If you are unable to select the 'New' option you may be using the 'Eudora Light' freeware application. If you need to setup multiple accounts/personalities you will need to upgrade to the full featured version or use a different email client (e.g. Outlook Express).



To begin open Eudora

1)Click the [Next] button to continue.

2)Select 'Create a brand new email account' option.
3)Click the [Next] button to continue.

4)Enter your name as you would like it to appear on outgoing email messages.
5) Click the [Next] button to continue.

6)Enter your email address. If your unsure of your email address please contact Imageway (see the Imageway contact page for deatils).
7)Click the [Next] button to continue.

8)By default Eudora will enter part of your email address as the username. Delete this information and enter your 'email address' (for example: me@mydomain.com).
9)Click the [Next] button to continue.

10)Enter 'mail.imageway.com' as the Incoming server.
11)Select the 'IMAP' option.
12)Click the [Next] button to continue.

13)Leave the 'Location Prefix' blank.
14)Click the [Next] button to continue.

15)Enter 'smtp.imageway.com' as the outgoing email server.
16)Tick the 'Allow authentication' option.
17)Click the [Next] button to continue

18)Click the [Finish] button to continue.

19)Enter your password.
NOTE: usernames and passwords are cAse SensITiVe.

If you don't know your username or password please contact Imageway Support
20)Click the [OK] button to continue.

21)You will receive an error message from Eudora, this normal.
22)Click the [OK] button to continue.

23)Click the Personalities tab.
24)Click the <Dominant> account with your Right mouse button.
25)Select 'Properties' from the popup menu.

26)Click the 'General Properties' tab
27)Click the drop-down list menu.
28)Select 'Never' from the drop-down list.

29)Click the 'Incoming Mail ' tab.
30)Click the drop down list menu.
31)Select 'Never' from the drop-down list.
32)Click the [OK] button to continue.

33)Click the mailbox tab.
34)Click the <Dominant> account with your Right mouse button.
35) Select 'Refesh Mailbox List' from the popup menu.
36)Enter your password again. NOTE: Passwords are cAsE seNsiTivE
37)Click the [OK] button to continue.

 
Eudora is now setup to receive email from your central email account using the IMAP protocol.The major difference between POP3 & IMAP is that your mail will be stored on the mail server and can be accessed using webmail or another IMAP enabled email program.
